Position Title:  Engineer-In-Training


Who we are looking for:

Counterpoint Engineering (CPE) is looking for an Engineer-In-Training who is highly motivated and detail oriented graduates or a few years of experience to join our team for an Engineer in Training program. Our four-year training program gives new grads the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in project management, engineering design, and contract administration, and practical application in a collaborative environment. We value a high level of commitment and accountability, where each team member is given the opportunity to take ownership for the work they do.

The candidate must have superior communication skills and understanding of the importance of a professional conduct within the office environment.

We have a number of roles that will allow the successful candidate the opportunity of gaining engineering experience in all areas within the consulting sector.

An example of the responsibility of an E.I.T. in a Design position will be providing technical support and production assistant to the design engineers and project managers. The daily responsibilities of the successful candidate will involve assisting with:

  • Preparation of functional servicing reports, design calculations and figures

  • Preparation of grading, servicing, and erosion and sediment control designs

  • Preparation of various engineering design drawings

  • Detailed design calculations

  • Exposure to stormwater quantity and quality control to various low-impact design (LID) standards

  • Utilizing AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D

  • Stormwater management requirements

An example of the responsibility of an E.I.T. in a Contract Administration position will be primarily accountable in executing and supporting daily activities in the contract administration department for the construction of residential subdivisions, commercial and municipal development projects. The daily responsibilities of the successful candidate will involve assisting with:

  • Perform on-site inspections and writing daily progress reports

  • Assistance with tendering process and various experiences as opportunities arise

  • Reviewing engineering drawings and specifications for assigned projects and preparing daily for various assigned tasks and responsibilities

  • Preparation of construction cost estimates, quantity take-offs, tender documents and analysis, contract preparation contractor payment certificates, change orders, and other administrative assignments as required

  • Provide consistent project overviews and updates to internal staff, clients, City staff, and various stakeholders throughout the construction process

  • Assist in managing the tasks of various sub-consultants as required, including Geotechnical Consultant, Land Surveyors, Independent Testing Contractors etc.
